Oil Price Surge Sinks TSX Futures Amid Trade War Tensions
TSX futures edged lower on Wednesday as oil prices surged above $100 per barrel, exacerbating inflation fears. The S&P/TSX 60 index standard futures contract fell by 8 points, or 0.4%, at 06:52 ET (10:52 GMT).
The decline was also attributed to an intensifying trade war between the U.S. and Canada. Washington imposed a new ban on some Canadian imports, following Ottawa's retaliatory tariffs on American items.
U.S. stock futures were also muted, with S&P 500 futures down 19 points, or 0.3%, at 06:13 ET. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Nasdaq Composite Index also declined.
