Oil Price Surge Sparks Focus on US Producers Exposed to Rising Brent and WTI

Oil markets are in focus following a fire at Saudi Aramco's Jazan refinery and renewed concerns over the Strait of Hormuz. Brent and WTI prices have surged over 1%, drawing attention to larger producers.

Three oil companies stand out for their direct exposure to rising Brent and WTI: Matador Resources (MTDR), SM Energy (SM), and Santos (ASX:STO).

Matador Resources, a mid-cap company with a market cap of around $6.1 billion, generates its revenue entirely in the United States. Its growing midstream business provides gathering, processing, and transportation services for both its own volumes and third parties.

The company has expanded its Delaware Basin footprint and midstream capacity, supporting cash generation. However, it carries a high debt load and a dividend not fully covered by free cash flow.
