Oil Prices Bounce Back After Iran-Oman Shipping Lane Agreement
Oil prices rose slightly on Thursday, August 6, 2026, reversing a three-day downward trend. According to TradingEconomics.com data, Brent crude oil climbed to US$80.10 per barrel (+0.82%), while WTI (Crude Oil) increased to US$75.72 per barrel (+0.67%).
The slight increase in oil prices came after Iran and Oman reached a partial agreement to reopen shipping lanes through the Strait of Hormuz, expected to last 2-4 months. This development had eased concerns over disruptions to Middle Eastern energy supply.
However, geopolitical risk remains high. The Iran-backed Houthi militia in Yemen claimed to have targeted a Saudi Arabian oil tanker in the Gulf of Aden, keeping market participants on alert for potential further supply disruptions.
