Oil Prices Decline Amid Growing Optimism Over US-Iran Deal
Oil prices have declined further as optimism grows over a potential short-term deal between the US and Iran, which could lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
The Brent crude price settled below $80 per barrel on ICE yesterday, down more than 5% from the previous day, and continued its downward trend in early morning trading today.
Any agreement reached between the two countries would likely be temporary, and there are concerns that the deal could unravel quickly, as seen with the Memorandum of Understanding.
Despite this, a sustained deal could lead to a recovery in oil flows from the Persian Gulf, which would provide some relief to the global market, particularly in terms of supply and demand balance for the fourth quarter and 2027.
