Oil Prices Ease, Wall Street Futures Rise Ahead of Inflation Report
Wall Street futures rose on Friday after oil prices eased, but investors remain cautious as they await the consumer inflation report. The Nasdaq 100 futures jumped 0.65% to $105.90 a barrel, while S&P 500 futures advanced 0.57% and Dow futures were up 0.56%. Brent crude futures slipped more than 3% but remained above $104 a barrel.
The yield on the 10-year US Treasury note dipped 0.16 basis points to 4.9424%, its highest level since 2023, which reduces the appeal of stocks. Despite this, European markets showed some resilience, with Britain's FTSE 100 rising 0.5% and Germany's DAX gaining 0.6%. However, Asian markets declined, with Japan's Nikkei 225 dropping 1.9% and South Korea's Kospi losing 1.8%.
