Oil prices inched up on Friday due to ongoing concerns over crude supplies amid Middle East tensions.

Brent crude futures increased by nine cents, or 0.1 percent, reaching $87.16 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures rose four cents to $81.29 a barrel.

The slight gain comes after both benchmarks dropped more than 2 percent in the previous session, giving back some of their gains from a six-session rally for Brent and a five-session surge for WTI.
