Oil Prices Fall Amid US-Iran Conflict, Fuel Rates Remain Stable in India
Petrol and diesel prices in India remained relatively stable on July 30 due to a decline in global oil prices. Brent crude prices fell by 79 cents, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude slipped 76 cents.
The easing of oil prices was partly attributed to the resumption of strikes by the US military against Iran, which had earlier caused a spike in global fuel prices. The US-Iran conflict has been ongoing for several months and has disrupted the global economy.
In India, retail petrol and diesel rates are determined by state-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs), which have largely shielded consumers from fluctuations in global fuel prices. As a result, domestic retail fuel prices remained steady on July 30, with some states witnessing minor changes.
