Oil Prices Fall as Stocks Edge Higher Amid Middle East Tensions
Stocks on Wall Street edged higher early Friday, despite heavy fighting in the Middle East threatening to slow global oil flows. The S&P 500 rose by a minimal 0.1%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average saw a more substantial gain of 62 points.
The Nasdaq composite slipped 0.1% however, and all three indexes are still poised to finish the week lower. Oil prices took a hit for the first time in a week, with Brent crude plummeting by 2.6% after reaching $102 per barrel the day prior.
Treasury yields also moved downward, while European markets were higher and Asian markets closed lower.
