Oil Prices Plummet as Middle East Tensions Ease
Global oil prices fell significantly on Tuesday as tensions in the Middle East showed signs of easing. The Brent crude futures contract for October delivery declined by more than 2% from the previous close to $83.86 per barrel, marking a low not seen since mid-month.
The September futures for US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude also dropped, falling 2.28% to $80.73 per barrel. This decline follows losses in the previous session, which were partly attributed to concerns over potential supply disruptions due to escalating tensions in the region.
However, with reports emerging that the US military had halted overnight strikes on Iran over the weekend, market sentiment began to shift towards de-escalation and diplomatic resolution. According to reports, US President Donald Trump ordered the pause in an effort to pursue a peaceful solution to the conflict.
