Oil Prices Plummet as Strait of Hormuz Deal Looms
Oil prices have dropped on August 6 as investors become increasingly optimistic about negotiations to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which has been disrupted due to maritime navigation issues.
The talks between Washington and Tehran aim to end the disruptions, with Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei confirming that a common understanding has been reached regarding the geographical coordinates of a shipping lane through the Strait.
US President Donald Trump hinted at an imminent agreement to reopen the Strait, but US officials have emphasized their refusal to grant Iran control over one of the world's most important energy supply routes.
The Brent crude oil price for October delivery has dropped by 0.25 dollars per barrel to 79.20 dollars, while WTI futures prices for September delivery have decreased by 0.32 dollars per barrel to 74.90 dollars.
