Oil Prices Plummet as Tensions Escalate in Middle East
Wall Street stocks wavered on Friday as oil prices fell for the first time in a week, amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The S&P 500 rose 0.1% while the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.1%, but both indexes are still on track for weekly losses.
Brent crude oil prices dropped almost 4% to settle at $96.78 a barrel, after shooting up to $102 a barrel a day earlier.
The US is also imposing new tariffs on dozens of nations, which could lead to hotter inflation and potentially higher interest rates.
