Oil Prices Plummet as Trump Halts Planned Iran Attacks
The price of crude oil dropped sharply on Hyperliquid after President Donald Trump announced he was halting planned attacks against Iran. The decision to pause the attacks, which were expected to start on Saturday and last for several weeks, came after Trump received requests from Iran and other Middle East countries, including Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. This development has sparked concerns about the US military's readiness, with the head of European Command warning the Pentagon that he lacks sufficient naval forces to protect Israel from incoming ballistic missiles.
The Brent crude oil price dropped to $83 on Hyperliquid, down significantly from its high of $100 last month. WTI oil prices also fell, reaching as low as $81, with a 24-hour volume of $181 million. The drop in oil prices is attributed to the uncertainty surrounding the conflict between the US and Iran.
Iran has repeatedly warned that it would retaliate against any attack on its critical infrastructure by targeting key facilities across the Gulf, including oil and gas installations, bridges, power plants, and desalination plants. Strikes on desalination facilities could have devastating consequences for Gulf countries, which rely heavily on them for freshwater supply.
The conflict between the US and Iran remains highly fluid, leaving markets vulnerable to sharp price swings. Any further military escalation could quickly reverse sentiment and trigger heightened volatility in the days ahead.
