Global oil prices plummeted on Tuesday after renewed diplomatic efforts between the US and Iran eased concerns over supply disruptions in the Middle East. The Brent crude benchmark fell to around $83.92 per barrel, down from approximately $87 per barrel on Monday.

The decline was triggered by reports of a proposed temporary arrangement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil shipping route that has been closed recently due to tensions between Washington and Tehran.

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, Kazem Gharibabadi, stated that his country rejected Oman's proposal for an equal division of transit routes, arguing that such an arrangement failed to address Iran's security concerns pending the achievement of long-term regional stability.
