Oil Prices Plummet as US-Iran Tensions Ease
The recent US-Iran tensions have paused, causing crude oil prices to retreat on Hyperliquid. The West Texas Intermediate (WTI) dropped to $86.82 from last week's high of $93, while Brent, the global benchmark, fell to $98.
This decline comes as Trump paused his strikes against Iran, citing room for diplomacy and a recognition that combat operations were not effective in pushing Iranians back to the negotiating table.
Trump has reneged on some of his recent threats, including warning that the US would escalate its attacks against Iran if it did not come to the table to negotiate. He also created his 'bridges and power plants' week but failed to implement it, earning him the nickname 'TACO', short for Trump Always Chickens Out.
China is believed to be pushing both sides to negotiate, with analysts suspecting that Trump is under pressure to do so. China has friendly relations with Iran and supplies targeting information, while also reducing its oil purchases in recent months.
