Oil Prices Plummet Below $80 Amid De-escalation
Global energy markets have seen a significant decline in oil prices, falling below $80 per barrel. The drop comes after US President Donald Trump's recent statements on entering into negotiations with Iran.
In Tuesday morning trading, West Texas Intermediate crude plummeted to $79.98 per barrel, marking a 2% decrease from the previous day's prices. Brent crude from the North Sea also declined by 3.7% to $85 per barrel.
The decline in oil markets is attributed to the temporary decrease in field tensions, following recent US military strikes targeting Iranian territory. The escalation wave had previously pushed oil prices up by over 20%, but markets have since breathed a sigh of relief with the move towards de-escalation and the reopening of diplomatic channels.
