Oil Prices Plunge Amid Middle East Uncertainty
Crude oil prices have declined in the global market despite rising tensions between the US and Iran, as well as uncertainty in the Middle East. According to a foreign news agency, Brent crude oil prices fell by $1.29 per barrel, reaching $89.45 per barrel. Similarly, American West Texas Intermediate crude oil was trading at $83.90 per barrel after decreasing by 56 cents or 0.66 percent.
Economists suggest that fluctuations in global oil prices are influenced not only by geopolitical tensions but also by the supply chain, shipping, demand, and investor confidence. If the situation in the region worsens or there is a disruption in oil supplies, prices may rise again.
