Oil Prices Plunge as Middle East Tensions Ease
Global oil prices plummeted by over 5% yesterday as concerns about supply disruptions from the Middle East eased due to positive signals from negotiations and improved shipping conditions through the Strait of Hormuz.
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) reported that shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has recovered significantly this week, with an average of nearly 19 vessels on August 3rd.
Brent crude oil prices decreased by 5.2% to $79.36/barrel, while WTI crude oil prices fell by 5.7% to $75.8/barrel, both closing at their lowest prices in nearly a month.
