Oil Prices Rise Amid Stalled Gulf Peace Talks
Asian markets experienced a surge in growth as the US Treasury yields dropped following a softer-than-expected jobs report. This led to a rise in oil prices due to stalled Gulf peace talks and restricted access to the Strait of Hormuz.
The Strait of Hormuz, a crucial waterway for global oil trade, remains a contentious issue between Iran and other nations. Iran has finalized a deal with Oman but will keep the waterway restricted until US conditions are met.
As a result, Brent and US crude prices saw an uptick in value. This momentum carried over to Wall Street, pushing Japan's Nikkei and South Korea's markets upward, while European futures dipped slightly.
Despite mixed inflation data in China, strong growth was reported in the AI sector through US earnings reports.
