Oil Prices Rise as Tensions with Iran Persist Ahead of US Inflation Report
Global stock markets were mixed ahead of the US inflation report for July. Despite this uncertainty, oil prices rose as concerns persist about when the war with Iran will allow crude to flow freely again.
The price of Brent crude, the international standard, increased by 1% to $89.79 per barrel. US benchmark crude oil also picked up 1% to $84.07.
Iran has rejected US President Donald Trump's comment that Iran is seeking compensation as part of any talks on ending the war.
