Oil Prices Slip as US Markets Edge Higher Amid Mideast Tensions
US markets edged higher on Wall Street as oil prices fell for the first time in a week, despite ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
The S&P 500 rose by 0.1% early Friday, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 62 points. The Nasdaq composite slipped 0.1%, but all three indexes are still on track to finish the week lower.
Brent crude oil prices fell 2.6% to $97.67 per barrel after shooting up to $102 a day earlier, while US benchmark crude slipped $2.43 to $89.76 per barrel.
