Oil Prices Soar Above $100 a Barrel Amid US-Iran Tensions
The price of crude oil has surged above $100 a barrel for the first time in months due to ongoing tensions between the US and Iran.
Shares in Europe and Asia were mostly lower on Thursday following a retreat on Wall Street, where the S&P 500 index fell 0.5% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 0.8%.
The price of Brent crude jumped 3.4% on Wednesday to surge above $100 a barrel for the first time since July, with U.S. benchmark crude gaining 0.4% to $96.42 a barrel.
