Oil Prices Soar Amid Escalating Middle East Tensions
Oil prices rebounded after three consecutive days of declines amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. WTI crude oil futures surged over 5%, breaking above $83 per barrel, partially recovering the 14% loss from the past three trading days.
The increase follows a reported Iranian 'raid attempt' targeting US forces stationed in the region, which was thwarted by the U.S. military. Additionally, Iran-backed militia groups in Iraq launched drones at oil facilities in eastern Saudi Arabia for the second consecutive day, increasing pressure on Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi Ministry of Defense stated that these drones were intercepted, but did not clarify whether any facilities were damaged. This month's oil prices have experienced dramatic volatility, initially soaring as US-Iran hostilities escalated and the conflict spread to the Red Sea, before giving back some gains as tensions eased.
