Oil Prices Soar Amid Escalating Tensions Between US and Iran
Oil prices have surged by over 2 per cent following a fresh escalation of tensions between the US and Iran. The price of Brent crude, the international benchmark, rose to $90.4 per barrel as of 5 am Belgian time, marking an increase of more than 2.6 per cent.
The American WTI crude oil price also jumped by over 2.2 per cent to $85.25 per barrel in response to the recent conflict. The escalation began on Sunday when the US military carried out new air strikes on Iranian targets, prompting a retaliatory bombing campaign from the Iranian military against American targets in Jordan.
These developments have sent shockwaves through the global energy market, leading to an uptick in oil prices as investors and traders navigate the uncertain geopolitical landscape. The price movements are a clear reflection of the growing concerns about potential disruptions to global oil supplies due to the ongoing conflict between the two nations.
