Oil Prices Soar Amid Geopolitical Tensions in Iran and Ukraine
Crude oil prices have surged to two-month highs due to ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and Ukraine. The price of Brent, the global oil benchmark, shot up to $105.70 per barrel on Thursday, its highest level since late May.
The recent escalation of conflicts in Iran and Ukraine has disrupted supply chains, causing buyers to scramble for alternative sources. Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis have launched attacks in the Red Sea, rerouting some Saudi oil shipments to longer routes, further compounding supply issues.
Kazakhstan has also reported reduced oil production following suspected Ukrainian drone attacks, which have halved their output from main export terminals. As a result, premiums for Middle Eastern grades have rebounded, setting new highs since the partial U.S.-Iran truce earlier this year.
