Oil Prices Soar Amid Ongoing Middle East Conflicts
Oil prices have continued their upward trend, reaching new heights as fresh Middle East strikes raise supply risks. Brent crude futures rose by 1.4%, hitting $99.33 a barrel at 6:12 am UAE time, while US West Texas Intermediate crude was up by the same percentage to $94.34 per barrel.
The recent attacks across the Middle East have heightened concerns about potential disruptions to oil supplies. This has led to prices jumping by over a quarter since early August as hopes for a permanent resolution to the ongoing war fade.
Analysts warn that the latest developments will continue to drive up prices, with ING noting that 'recent events only reinforce the view that we are still some way from a restart in (peace) talks.' This has led to the market pricing in a sizeable risk premium.
