Oil Prices Soar Amid Ongoing Middle East Tensions
Oil prices surged by approximately 3% following a series of attacks on Saudi Arabia and Iranian ships in the Gulf. The Houthi strikes and Iranian attacks have heightened supply concerns, with Brent crude futures rising to $107.54 per barrel and West Texas Intermediate (WTI) reaching $102.93 per barrel.
The disruptions pose a threat to up to 4% of the global oil supply, according to reports by Reuters. The recent geopolitical tensions have also impacted prediction markets, where the likelihood of crude oil reaching a new all-time high by September 30 saw a rise in YES pricing from 2% to 3.8% over the past 24 hours.
Market participants anticipate further upward pressure on oil prices due to ongoing supply disruptions. Key players in the oil industry, including OPEC and the International Energy Agency, are closely monitoring the situation.
