Oil Prices Soar Amid US-Iran Conflict Tensions
Crude oil prices continued their upward trend on Friday, with Brent crude futures reaching $93.82 a barrel and U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures at $86.78 a barrel.
The price hike is attributed to the ongoing tensions between the US and Iran, which have disrupted supply from major oil producers in the Middle East. The stalemated war has led to concerns over continued curtailment of supply from countries such as Saudi Arabia, Iraq, the UAE, and Kuwait.
According to IG analyst Tony Sycamore, both sides are 'dug in' but lack the luxury of time to play the waiting game. US President Donald Trump threatened economic retaliation against nations supporting Iran, warning of consequences for any country that provides a lifeline to Iran.
The United Arab Emirates has suspended all financial and economic transactions with Iran until further notice, highlighting the strained ties between the two countries.
