Oil Prices Soar Amid US-Iran Standoff
Oil prices rose significantly on Tuesday as tensions between the US and Iran remain high. The Strait of Hormuz, a crucial waterway, is at the center of the impasse, with both sides refusing to back down. Brent crude futures reached $88.00 per barrel, their highest level since July 31, while US crude futures ticked up to $82.45.
Market analyst Tony Sycamore described the situation as a 'Mexican standoff,' where neither side is willing to give in. He predicted that oil prices will likely stay within a range of $75-95 per barrel until the situation is resolved.
The escalating tensions have raised concerns about inflation and interest rates, with some economists predicting a hot print on the US July consumer price report due on Wednesday. This could lead to renewed worries about stagflation and higher interest rates.
