Oil Prices Soar as Middle East Conflict Escalates
Oil prices rebounded on Thursday after hitting losses in the previous session as investors feared further escalation of the conflict in the Middle East, threatening global energy markets.
The Brent futures rose $4.77 to $106.99 a barrel by 1220 GMT, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures gained $3.74 to $94.06 a barrel.
Iran is reviewing a US proposal to end the war but has no intention of holding talks, according to Iranian Foreign Minister.
The conflict has nearly halted shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, which typically carries about a fifth of the world's crude oil and LNG supply.
