Oil Prices Soar as US Hits Iran's Military Assets
US forces have carried out strikes against Iranian military assets for the first time in over a month, targeting two launchers on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz.
The attack aimed to prevent Iran from deploying sea mines in the strategic waterway, with a US official explaining that American forces had observed Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps personnel preparing to launch rockets carrying sea mines into the strait.
Brent crude prices jumped 2.52% to $90.32 per barrel, while its American counterpart, US West Texas Intermediate, rose 2.41% to $85.41 a barrel, in response to the news of the strikes.
Iran retaliated by firing ballistic missiles toward an American base located in Jordan, but none of them struck the base and there were no reports of damage or injuries.
