Oil Prices Soar as US-Iran Tensions Escalate
Oil prices have surged to their highest levels in nearly two weeks as tensions between the United States and Iran escalate over a peace deal and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
US President Donald Trump has responded to Iranian demands with his own set of conditions, including compensation for those killed in wars, attacks, and protests. This move is likely to complicate efforts to reopen the waterway, which is crucial for global oil supplies.
Brent crude futures have risen to $88.09 per barrel, while US crude futures have reached $82.52, both reaching their highest levels since July 31.
'We're now in a bit of a Mexican standoff, if you'd like, in terms of who blinks first,' said Tony Sycamore, a market analyst at IG.
