Oil Prices Soar Past $100 as Middle East Tensions Rise
The main U.S. stock indexes fell on Wednesday due to surging oil prices and rising Middle East tensions.
Oil prices broke past the $100-a-barrel mark, a level not seen since July, after Iran claimed it fired ballistic missiles at a U.S. base in Jordan.
This increase has heightened concerns over oil supplies from the region, contributing to market volatility and downward pressure on stocks.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 357.08 points, or 0.68%, to 52,428.99, while the S&P 500 shed 21.78 points, or 0.28%, to 7,651.74.
