Oil Prices Surge Above $100 a Barrel as Stocks Fall
Oil prices surged back above $100 a barrel on Wednesday, prompting stocks to fall on Wall Street amid escalating tensions in the U.S. war with Iran.
The S&P 500 index fell 0.3%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 327 points, or 0.6% as of 3:20 p.m. Eastern time.
Oil companies such as Exxon Mobil and Chevron saw their shares rise by 2.6% and 2%, respectively, despite the broader market decline.
