Oil Prices Surge Amid Strait of Hormuz Uncertainty
Oil prices rose on Monday as uncertainty continued over the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. According to Reuters, Iran said that a deal with Oman defining new shipping lanes was in its final stages, but the US must still meet other conditions.
The Brent crude futures price increased by $1.20, or 1.44%, to $84.79 per barrel, while the U.S. West Texas Intermediate price rose to $79.29 a barrel, up $1.12 or 1.08%.
The Strait of Hormuz is a critical waterway for global oil supplies, and any disruptions can have significant impacts on prices.
