Oil Prices Surge Amid Tense US-Iran Talks
Global markets experienced a decline on Friday due to rising oil prices and tense US-Iran talks. The US threatened to increase economic pressure on Iran, including extending a naval blockade.
Oil prices responded accordingly, with Brent crude futures increasing by 0.7% to $87.68 per barrel, while US oil prices rose 0.3% to $81.49.
In Europe, the Stoxx 600 index fell 0.2%, and the euro zone benchmark dropped 0.3% on a weekly basis, despite being within 1% of a record high.
The Irish market also declined by almost 0.4% on Friday, with the index dragged lower by weakness in food and construction stocks.
