Oil Prices Surge on Middle East Developments

New York oil prices rose more than 1 percent at settlement on August 14, driven by Middle East developments.

Brent crude futures gained USD 1.45 to settle at USD 88.52 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures advanced USD 1.15 to reach USD 82.40 a barrel.

The week saw Brent crude post a gain of 6 percent and WTI climb 5.4 percent.
