Oil Prices Tumble Amid Persian Gulf Tensions
Global oil prices have taken a hit despite rising tensions in the Persian Gulf region. On July 30, Brent crude oil futures fell by $0.96 (1.06%) to $89.78 per barrel, while American West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil decreased by $0.64 (0.76%) to $83.82 per barrel.
The recent escalation in the region was triggered by a missile attack on an American base in Jordan, which prompted US President Donald Trump to threaten a 'very strong' strike against Iran. However, despite this, oil prices have not maintained their initial surge, suggesting that investors are focusing more on supply flows than geopolitical headlines.
According to experts, the actual price dynamics of crude oil are determined by supply volumes and diplomatic processes, rather than immediate spikes caused by geopolitical news.
