Oil Prices Under Pressure Amid Middle East Military Pause and Strait of Hormuz Shipping Disruptions
Oil prices have been under pressure following a pause in Middle Eastern military operations. According to Konstantinos Chrysikos, Head of Customer Relationship Management at Kudo, this has lowered the likelihood of an immediate geopolitical escalation.
The optimism surrounding negotiations between Iran and Oman regarding shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has boosted market sentiment. Expectations that maritime traffic conditions in the waterway could gradually stabilize, allowing greater crude flows to reach global markets, contributed to this improved outlook.
Despite recent price declines, Chrysikos noted that downside risks for oil prices might remain limited. Shipping disruptions persist in the Strait of Hormuz, constraining traffic and keeping uncertainty over regional exports alive. Ongoing security threats around the Bab El Mandeb Strait continue to endanger global supply chains, preserving a degree of geopolitical risk for crude prices.
