Oil Prices Undeterred by Iranian Ceasefire Comments
The Iranian government has stated that there are no talks about extending the ceasefire between Iran and the United States. Despite this, oil prices have shown little reaction to the comments, suggesting that investors still expect a gradual de-escalation of tensions in the Middle East.
According to the Iranian side, the ceasefire did not have an officially defined start date, meaning there is no formal deadline for extension. They claim that the US violated the interim agreement within the first 48 hours and subsequently withdrew from it.
The current talks are focused on a potential US return to the memorandum of understanding (MOU) and establishing a timeline for implementing previous commitments. However, Iranian sources say no significant progress has been made in these negotiations so far.
