Oil Tanker Catches Fire in Strait of Hormuz After Hitting Sea Mines

An oil tanker has caught fire after hitting two sea mines in the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The IRGC stated that the vessel was attempting to cross an 'illegal route' through the strait when it collided with the mines.

In a statement carried by IRIB, the IRGC said that the vessel 'completely stopped' after hitting the mines and caught fire.
