Oman Evacuates Crew from Saudi Tanker Attacked Near Strait of Hormuz

A Saudi-flagged oil tanker, SIDR, was attacked near the Strait of Hormuz, leading to the evacuation of its crew by Oman. The vessel was struck about two nautical miles northwest of Musandam, and a Royal Navy of Oman vessel provided logistical support.

Two Filipino crew members were killed in the attack, according to Saudi Arabia's national shipping company Bahri. The tanker was carrying Saudi oil when it came under fire during tensions between Iran and the United States.

Oman completed its rescue operation for the tanker, which had 25 crew members on board. Seven crew members were initially reported as unaccounted for, but their status is now unknown.
