Oman Seeks LNG Alternative Routes Amid Strait of Hormuz Disruptions

Oman's Energy Minister Salim al-Aufi has called for alternative routes to transport liquefied natural gas (LNG) in order to avoid the Strait of Hormuz, a major shipping lane that has been disrupted by ongoing conflict in the Arabian Gulf.

In a meeting with gas producers and traders at the Gastech conference in Bangkok, Thailand, al-Aufi emphasized the need for diversification of export options. 'Let's identify alternative export options,' he said. 'Whether it's to the north, through Oman, or through Yemen. Diversify your options to remove these resources from the region.'

Oman currently operates one LNG export plant that is not dependent on the Strait of Hormuz, and Adnoc Gas Plc is considering building a new facility outside the strait.
