Oman's OQ Gas Networks Commits $764 Million to Pipeline Expansion

Oman's OQ Gas Networks is embarking on an ambitious infrastructure growth program, investing $764 million to expand its natural gas transmission network. The company aims to complete three major pipeline projects by the end of 2027, connecting key economic growth hubs and addressing bottlenecks in supply.

The projects include the Fahud, Sohar Loop Line, a 120-mile pipeline that will run parallel to existing lines and add 11 million cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of transmission capacity to the northern network. The Budoor, Tayseer pipeline, at 19 miles long, will connect the Budoor Tayseer Gas Plant to the national grid, increasing supply and flexibility in the system.

The Duqm Growth pipeline, targeting the Port of Duqm and its growing industrial cluster, will provide high-volume delivery capacity. Once complete, the total pipeline network is expected to reach 2,931 miles, an increase of 217 miles or approximately 8% from the current length of 2,714 miles.

The projects are driven by rising demand in Suhar, Ibri, and the Duqm industrial zone, as well as the need to integrate the Budoor Tayseer Gas Plant into the national network. OQ Gas Networks' CEO and senior officers attribute the necessity of these projects to the existing gas network's inability to keep pace with industry needs.
