Oman's Postponement Sends Oil Prices Soaring Amid Strait of Hormuz Crisis

Oman's decision to postpone a regional summit on the Strait of Hormuz shipping crisis has sent oil prices surging, as diplomatic efforts to resolve the issue face a new hurdle.

The meeting, originally scheduled for January 14 in Salalah, was postponed due to a need to seek consensus among all parties, according to Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi.

This move has sharply cooled market expectations for a near-term easing of the Middle East energy supply crisis, leading to a jump in international oil prices on Monday.
