ONGC and Shell Join Forces for Indian Energy Push
India's energy landscape is set to benefit from a new collaboration between Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and Shell Energy India Private Limited. On August 10, 2026, the two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore opportunities in upstream oil and gas as well as liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Under the MoU, ONGC and Shell will work together on deepwater and ultra-deepwater offshore blocks offered under the Open Acreage Licensing Policy (OALP) Rounds X and XI. They will also examine potential farm-in and farm-out opportunities in ONGC's existing OALP blocks.
The partnership aims to contribute to India's long-term energy security through practical and complementary collaboration. By combining their strengths, the two companies seek to open new possibilities for deeper exploration and more reliable energy supplies.
