ONGC Boosts Gas Supply in Assam Through North East Grid
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has strengthened gas supply in Assam through the North East Gas Grid. The company recently commissioned a gas evacuation facility at Khoraghat GGS-1 in Golaghat district, Assam, enabling it to process and evacuate surplus associated natural gas from the Upper Assam Shelf.
The development follows the commissioning of the Dergaon, Dimapur Pipeline, which connected Nagaland to both the North East Gas Grid and the National Gas Grid. As a result, ONGC can now facilitate the utilisation of nearly 1 lakh Standard Cubic Metres (SCM) of natural gas per day from its Jorhat Asset.
ONGC plans to develop hook-up facilities at Jantapathar and Kasomarigaon to connect additional producing fields of its Jorhat Asset with the North East Gas Grid. Once operational, these facilities will further increase gas evacuation capacity and improve the utilisation of locally produced natural gas.
