OPEC and Malaysia Deepen Oil Cooperation Amid Global Energy Shifts

OPEC and Malaysia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in the face of shifting global energy landscapes.

The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Secretary-General, Haitham Al Ghais, met with Malaysia's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Dato Fenny Nuli, at the OPEC Secretariat in Vienna. The meeting focused on deepening cooperation between OPEC and Malaysia, with both sides stressing the importance of sustained dialogue.

OPEC highlighted Malaysia's role in promoting closer dialogue between oil producers through its participation in the Declaration of Cooperation (DoC). Established in 2016, the DoC brings together OPEC member countries and participating non-OPEC oil-producing countries to coordinate efforts aimed at supporting stability in the global oil market.

The discussions come as oil-dependent economies face challenges related to market stability, investment, energy security, and the pace of the energy transition. For producers, continued cooperation remains crucial as shifts in global demand, investment patterns, and energy policies influence the petroleum market.
