OPEC+ Approves Modest Oil Output Hike Amid Market Stability Concerns
OPEC+, the global oil-producing alliance, has approved a modest increase in oil output for September 2026. The group's seven member countries will boost production by 188,000 barrels per day (bpd), with the aim of supporting global market stability and allowing participating nations to accelerate compensation for previous overproduction.
The decision was made after reviewing global market conditions and the outlook, as stated in an official OPEC+ statement. The seven participating countries - Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria, and Oman - agreed to implement a production adjustment of 188,000 bpd from the additional voluntary cuts announced in April 2023.
The move is intended to provide oil market stability while also enabling participating countries to accelerate their compensation plans for earlier overproduction. OPEC+ has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting global market stability amid evolving market conditions.
