OPEC+ Boosts Oil Production Amid Ongoing Global Conflicts

OPEC+, an alliance of oil-producing countries, agreed to increase production in September by 188,000 barrels per day. This decision marks the sixth consecutive agreement to boost output amid ongoing conflicts affecting global oil supplies.

The increase completes OPEC+'s commitment to reverse its 2023 decision to cut production by 1.65 million barrels per day. However, despite this decision, shipping disruptions in key waterways continue to impact global oil flows.

Concerns over attacks on energy infrastructure were expressed during a video conference of the OPEC Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee, which warned that such incidents will lead to increased market volatility and costly repairs.
