OPEC+ Freezes Oil Output Amid Steady Market Conditions

OPEC+ has decided to maintain oil output steady in October, following months of increased production. The group, led by Saudi Arabia and Russia, agreed to pause hikes after boosting output by 188,000 barrels per day (b/d) this month.

The decision affects seven OPEC+ members: Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria, and Oman. They had been gradually unwinding voluntary production cuts of 1.65 million b/d announced in April 2023.

The group's output hikes were a response to the ongoing Middle East conflict, which has led to repeated strikes on energy infrastructure across the region. Despite this, market conditions are considered steady enough to warrant no further increases in October.
